Gilligan The Dope, Mary Ann The Doper
Monday, March 10, 2008 Filed in: Events
What can I say. I'm as shocked as anyone. One of the
two purest female icons from the 1960s is a doper.
Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island.
True, Gilligan was the dope. Ginger had the sex appeal, but the real beauty on Gilligan's Island was Dawn Wells, who played sweet and innocent and well stacked beauty, Mary Ann.
Guess what? Mary Ann was sentenced to five days in jail, fined $400, and placed on six months probation after she pled guilty to one count of reckless driving. She was caught with marijuana in her car but managed to beat the rap by claiming that the half-smoked joints and marijuana paraphernalia were not hers, but belonged to 'friends'. Or, hitchhikers. Or, whatever.
She also failed a sobriety test after police pulled her over for erratic driving. Dawn, uh, Mary Ann, claimed she swerved because she was trying to find the heater controls in her new car.
Maybe she dropped something on the floor, too.
Dawn, as Mary Ann, was the innocent girl-next-door on Gilligan's Island. Ginger was who all the guys wanted to date, but Mary Ann was the girl everyone wanted to take home to meet mom and dad.
Sadly, time heals all wounds, and wounds all those who trust in the beauty and innocence of yesteryear.
What's next? Donna Douglas gets convicted of animal cruelty?
