Old White Guys

I watched Barack Obama's most recent victory speech
on televsion. Then I watched John McCain's most
recent victory speech a few minutes later. The
difference was black and white.
It isn't my intent to play the race card in my commentary, but I have to admit the pun was difficult to leave behind. So I didn't.
Not left behind was the obvious. Barack Obama is the candidate of The Church of What's Happen' Now, and John McCain is the leader of The Old White Men's Club.
Granted, both are US Senators. That's about where any equal comparison ends. One is half white, half African-American (I hesitate to use the term 'black' because I'm not sure if it's politically correct anymore, besides, I already used it in the aforementioned pun).
The other is whiter than white; so white he's translucent or trying to be.
One is young and charismatic and full of life and energy and enthusiasm, so much so that it has become an infectious disease which should be examined and studied by the Centers for Disease Control in Atlanta.
The other is really, really, really old, and if elected President would be the oldest newly elected President ever in the country's history, including Ronald Reagan, who was only really, really old.
One is a dynamic, engaging spirit who preaches hope for the future. The other is a boring speaker who preaches fear. Both claim to have a better solution for the problems of today and the problems of the future.
The only problem I see is that one of them may not have a long future.
