No Wheat, No Sugar, No Milk

Losing weight is easy. Look at your daily diet. What can you eliminate? How about no wheat, no sugar, no milk?

A little of everything else is probably fine, considering that moderation should be the key to your diet.

That is, moderation without wheat, no sugar, and not a drop of milk. Can it be that easy? Probably not, but it's worth a try.

Modern American diets are complex and have been for many decades. Complex in that we eat a wide variety of foods, much of it not good for us, especially processed foods-- those items you buy in boxes, cans, and plastic.

One could argue that simply eliminating all foods from boxes, cans, and plastic would have a beneficial effect on the nation's diet, as that would require consumption of more fruits and vegetables.

Diabetes is at epidemic levels, and based on food consumption habits of Americans over the past 50 years, a career in treating diabetes patients would seem to be a good choice as the demand for health care will continue to escalate. Whatever it is we're eating isn't making most Americans healthy.

Baby boomers were those born shortly after the end of World War II, and that is about when the diet problems began. Wheat, sugar, and milk found its way into everything except drinking water. Ingredients we cannot pronounce are stuffed into foods we crave.

A moderate diet probably requires a balance of basics; some meat, fish, poultry as well as grains, vegetables, and fruit. The next time you open a box of food or a can of anything or a bottle of something to drink, check the label. If you can't pronounce the ingredients should you really take it into your body.

A moderate diet also requires simple rules. No wheat, no sugar, no milk. Nutrients provided by the former and latter are obtainable elsewhere. A loss of sugar, especially that found in treats and almost everything else, is not a great loss.

Simple rules: No wheat, no sugar, no milk.

In keeping with simplicity, try this one. If you can't pronounce it, don't eat it. That would eliminate a large portion of the so-called modern American diet.

Try this one: If it comes in a box, a can, or plastic, don't eat it. Drastic? Yes. So is obesity and diabetes. Take a walk through the mall and look at the hundreds of people waddling from store to store to food court. What does that say? Both diet and quantity are out of wack for many people.

Keep the rules simple and follow them.

1 - No wheat, no sugar, no milk.

2 - If you can't pronounce it, don't eat it.

3 - Don't eat food from boxes, cans, or plastic.

Try it for a single month and then compare how you feel vs. how you felt.
