There's something about nature that I find troubling. Wherever you look, it's survival of the fittest, us vs. them. It's everywhere.

Is that the way it's supposed to be? Is there a better way?

Take food. The survival of the fittest shows up in the food we eat. Ask any chicken, fish, cow or pig what they think of what humans have done to them, and it won't be good news.

If plants could talk, or read music, they'd sing a similar song. Is there a piece of celery that loves the crunch of its own hide?

Human history is replete with us vs. them scenes. Distinctions between race, cultures, class, education, and looks are at the heart of the nature of us vs. them considerations.

Whether it's Christian countries against Muslim countries, Republicans against Democrats, male against female, or labor against business, us vs. them is the approach, methodology and end results.

It's winners and losers. It's always been that way. Is that the way it should be? Or, is there a better way?

Think about this. Paranoia is the right attitude to have if everyone is out to get you. Apparently, everyone is. Or, someone, somewhere is out to get someone else.

Live and let live? Sorry. Apparently that doesn't work. It's much more likely to be live and let die.
