We've had the pleasure of marrying off, in one way or another, all of our children. Sons are easier than daughters, so choose wisely.

Our first son's wedding was just a few years ago and an even to remember. The wedding ceremony was held on an islet at Sea Life Park, east of Honolulu. Sting rays and fish swam around the wedding party during the talk and vows.

We had our doubts about a wedding at Sea Life Park. The facility has a chapel for weddings because so many Japanese want a memorable wedding, too. They're less willing to have where the seafood swims.

In reality, the wedding ceremony and reception were memorable events suitable for fond looks back to see where it all started.

Our second son's wedding was a bit more traditional. No fish. The ceremony was held out of doors in one of Waikiki's finer hotels. The reception was held indoors. Food was served, music played, the traditional 90-minute slide show was condensed to 11-minutes and 30 seconds. I did that.

A few observations: Wedding speeches need more rehearsal. Fruit should not be served with meat, chicken, or fish. Dancing should be on a raised stage. Each table should have a napkin for each diner, and a box of tissues. If the family of the bride was not responsible for the wedding, there would be fewer males.

The children are gone. The nest is empty.
