Everyone has a name. In most cases the name came from mom and dad. The first and middle names are likely created or adopted, the last name is usually inherited.

That's how names go. Johnny Cash's 'A Boy Named Sue' notwithstanding, most people in the U.S. have what we would consider normal names, meaning, names you've heard elsewhere.

African-Americans of the past few decades have created a generation of highly creative, unique names. The rest of us, not so much. We have two sons; a Jonathan and a Joshua. There's also daughter Andrea.

See? Those are names you've heard already.

Some names seem to disappear from the list. Remember Monica Lewinsky? 'Monica' was in the Top 100 of girl names until her relationship with President Bill Clinton became public. Now 'Monica' is out of the Top 200.

Colt seems to be a name that shows up more often these days. So does Sunshine, Cashmere, and Phoenix. Supermodel Elle Macpherson named her baby Aurelius Cy. Gwyneth Paltrow's baby is named Apple.

Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw named their latest creation Destry. That's child, not movie. Tennis stars Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi names their offspring Jaz.

Nicholas Cage named his son Kal-El Coppola. Kal-El is Superman's original name on the planet Krypton. Eddie Murphy's daughter is named Zola Ivy. Will Smith's daughter is named Willow Cammille Reign.

David Duchovny and Tea Leoni have a kid named Kyd.
