What Isn't Bad For You These Days?

I'm more than a little disturbed at a notable health trend in the news recently. From what I can tell, it seems that everything is bad for you.

That disturbs me because I've been working most of my life to accumulate everything. After all, the guy who has the most toys when he dies, wins. Now I find out that everything is bad.

In reality, I'm confident that it's really a matter of too much of anything that bad for you, not something simplistic such as everything.

Cell phones cause brain cancer. Loud music causes hearing loss. Steak and eggs cause hardening of the arteries. Workplace or family stress causes inflammation which causes cancer, arthritis, heart disease, hair loss, toenail fungus, and who knows what else. Children cause insanity in adults.

Still, in this day and age of instant gratification and materialism, the question goes unanswered, "What isn't bad for you these days?"

People are known to be toxic to one another and cause each other more grief than Satan causes God, as evidenced by the dozen or so CSI shows on TV. If everything is bad for us, and we're bad for each other, is there anything that's good, wholesome, worthwhile, beneficial, something to look up to?

How about the purity of baseball, the national sport? Nope. Drugs abound.

How about kittens and puppies? Nope. Do you know how many flesh eating bacteria are floating around on a dog or cat? Dogs drink from a toilet and cats walk on their poop before they poop then lick off what sticks.

How about vegetables and fruits? Those are good for us, right? Nope. They would be if they actually tasted like the various vegetables and fruit they represent. They don't. Lucky is the man whose backyard has an apple tree or watermelon patch.

Modern medicine is good for us, right? Think again. Listen to the television commercials of any pill designed to reduce inflammation, increase energy, give you a full night's sleep, or make your penis hard for up to four hours, then listen to the list of side effects, said list takes up the second half of the commercial.

Sunlight? Nope. Causes skin cancer. Water? Nope. Too many contaminants. Air? Please.

Even if you could come up with a list of things are really are good for you, just remember that too much of a good thing is bad.
