Where Are The Dumb Women?

Whatever happened to dumb women on television? From
commercials, to drama, to situation comedies, they're
gone.
Today's media woman is smart, tough, educated, intelligent, and out to prove a point-- or so it seems. Gone are the short-skirted space nymphets of Star Trek Classic, the blondish humor of Suzane Sommers in TV's Three's Company, and the purity of thinklessness with Kelly and Peggy in Married... with Children.
They've been replaced by a post 9/11 crew of solemn women with intellect and purpose that ranges from CSI: Des Moines to a rehash of The Bionic Woman to the upper handed Patricia Heaton relishing the failures and foibles of Kelsey Grammer in Back To You.
Where are the dumb women on television? They've been replaced by an ever-growing cadre of dumb men. If 60 is the new 40, then Ricky Ricardo is the new Lucy Ricardo.
Women in broadcasting no longer flout their feminine form for the weather camera, choosing instead to anchor the news, host the talk show, and hone their verbosity skills raking men across the proverbial coals to an audience shouting, "You go girl."
This is not to say that men are not being given their due in the form of just desserts. Consider the trend toward displays of dominatrix worship on television as a form of media affirmative action for the sexes; women needling men to make up for thousands of years of social and sexual injustice.
Chrissy, where are you when men everywhere need you?
