Olive Oil Or Lard?

The world seems to be divided into two camps. One
camp for this, one for something else. Do you use
olive oil or lard?
Lard is a bad word, but that's what our chicken cooked in 50 years ago. Then vegetable oil became the passion du-jour, usually in the form of Wesson Oil.
Products that become the defacto standard of the class are in short supply. Kleenix is the name of tissue paper. Xerox is synonymous with copier. Jell-o is the name of gelatin regardless of the brand.
Vegetable oil is supposed to be healthier than lard, even if the latter is the brand name we all know and love. Crisco. These days even vegetable oil has taken a back seat to an even healthier trend. Olive oil.
Just when we could figure out the differences between various brands of olive oil, along comes a new study that say macadamia nut oil is even better than whatever you've used before. No doubt the study was funded by some macadamia nut council.
It's probably a good thing we can't cook with tea tree oil. It will make your hair shine and remove mold from something. I forget.
How about the battle between margarin and butter? We ate margarin because it was supposed to be healthier than butter. Now we find that it's actually worse than butter. Butter is good. At least, that's what we hear from the National Butter Council in Wisconsin.
I don't think there's a National Margarine Council to spread propaganda about margarin, but it's becoming more difficult to believe what any interest group says about a product. Except lard.
Nothing that sounds that sticky and gooey can be good for a body.
